Skiing in Combloux means skiing Les Portes du Mont-Blanc, a ski area of around 100 km of pistes between 1,200 and 1,930 metres in altitude, shared with the Jaillet (Megève), La Giettaz and Cordon. The slopes start 2.5 km from the village centre, at the La Cry snow front, served by a free shuttle bus, and every sector is linked on skis except Cordon. For the 2026-2027 season, the general opening is set for Saturday 19 December 2026.
The ski area is known for its family-friendly profile and its head-on view of Mont-Blanc, but it does not stand alone: with an Évasion Mont-Blanc pass, you can also ski the Megève and Saint-Gervais massifs, 445 km of pistes in total. This guide covers the sectors, the departure lifts, the ski passes and the practical side of a ski day from Combloux.
The four sectors of Les Portes du Mont-Blanc
Straddling Haute-Savoie and Savoie, the linked Combloux – Megève Le Jaillet – La Giettaz area adds up to 89 km of pistes, plus the 11 km of Cordon, covered by the same pass. Some sixty runs for every level wind between the fir trees.
Combloux: La Cry, Beauregard and the Pertuis
The La Cry snow front is the natural starting point from the village. The Beauregard gondola takes skiers up to 1,548 metres, into the heart of the sector. Higher up, the Pertuis chairlift serves the summit of the same name, at 1,757 metres, as well as the Combloux boardercross, laid out along the Ambourzalles red run.
At the foot of the slopes, the Brons, Garettes and Mowgli drag lifts are where first-timers find their feet. The main ticket office is at the Brons car park, with a second one at La Cry.
The Jaillet, the gateway to Megève
Linked on skis to Combloux, the Jaillet massif rises to the Croix de sur les Prés, at around 1,600 metres. Here you will find l’Ours des Prés, a fun run near the top of the Jaillet gondola, reached by the La Ravine chairlift, and the Tapis des Pattes conveyor for beginners.
La Giettaz, the Savoie side
On the other side, La Giettaz-en-Aravis holds the highest point of the ski area: the Torraz summit, at 1,930 metres. The sector has its own beginners’ area.
Cordon, a ski area apart
A family resort at the foot of the Aravis, Cordon is not linked to the rest of the ski area. Its slopes are included in the Portes du Mont-Blanc pass: an option for a change of scene, by car.
Combloux and Megève: getting from one ski area to the other
From Combloux, you can ski over to the Jaillet. However, the Rochebrune, Mont d’Arbois and Côte 2000 massifs are not linked to Les Portes du Mont-Blanc by the pistes.
To get between them, the free Megève shuttle buses leave from the Jaillet gondola:
- line 1 links the Jaillet to the Rochebrune cable car in under ten minutes;
- line 2 serves Mont d’Arbois and the Côte 2000.
Another option, for those staying in the hamlets of Les Intages, Le Feug or Demi-Lune: the Princesse gondola, which leaves from the car park of the same name in Demi-Quartier and opens straight onto Mont d’Arbois.
These sectors require an Évasion Mont-Blanc pass, which covers 445 km of pistes up to 2,353 metres, from Megève to Saint-Gervais and Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce. The Megève massifs are covered in detail in our guide to skiing in Megève.
Learning to ski and family skiing in Combloux
The tourist office describes the ski area as “family-friendly par excellence”.
The beginner pass gives access, at a single reduced price, to the gentlest lifts: the Mowgli, Brons and Garettes drag lifts in Combloux, the Tapis des Pattes at the Jaillet, and the Grande Rare chairlift and Covagnet conveyor in La Giettaz.
ESF Combloux, the ski school, welcomes children from age 3 at its Club Piou-Piou. The Gardi-Ski option, for 3 to 5-year-olds, combines 1 hour 30 minutes of Piou-Piou with childcare for the rest of the day. Group and private lessons are also available for adults, with a meeting point between the Brons and Garettes drag lifts.
Childcare is offered through three services: Gardi-Ski, a traditional nursery and a children’s activity centre, all best booked early for the school holidays. The resort is also equipped for adaptive skiing.
