Where to eat in Combloux?

Combloux has neither the density nor the gastronomic reputation of its neighbour Megève, and that is precisely what gives its dining its charm. Here you eat honest mountain cooking, often facing Mont-Blanc, at prices that bear no comparison with those of the village next door.

Here are the places we recommend to guests staying in our chalets, arranged by time of day.

By the biotope lake

This is the most pleasant spot in Combloux as soon as the sun comes out. Two restaurants face each other here, in very different styles.

Alexperience

The restaurant of chef Alexandre Brasset, set on the edge of the lake, with a terrace looking out to Mont-Blanc. Entirely home-made bistronomic cooking, using fresh produce and local producers, with a menu that changes with the seasons.

The chef trained in several great houses of French gastronomy, and won a competition with his pâté en croûte. The restaurant is listed in the Guide Michelin, in the traditional cuisine category: slow-cooked egg with lentils and smoked diots, bœuf bourguignon, that kind of repertoire.

This is the one to book for a special occasion, a dinner for two or a family meal.

Dinner in the village

Chalet Gipsy

Sharing plates, carefully crafted cocktails and a young, lively team. The chicken satay and the panna cotta come up often in reviews.

An honest caveat: several diners find the portions small for the price. Book it for the atmosphere and the cocktails rather than for a hearty dinner after a day’s skiing.

Le Chalet d’Émilie

Run by chef Franck Girard, in a large, warm dining room. The village’s safe bet for a Savoyard meal.

Le Loup Comblé

Unpretentious French cooking, between €16 and €20, with a pleasant terrace where pets are welcome. The simple, reliable choice for a weeknight.

La Tana

A pizzeria in the heart of the village, in an unusual, welcoming setting. The option that keeps everyone happy when you come back late from the slopes with children.

Lunch on the slopes in Combloux

Le Cœur d’Or

At 1,525 metres, at the top of the Beauregard gondola. In winter you arrive on your skis; in summer on foot from the Cuchet car park, a thirty- to forty-five-minute walk. The terrace looks straight out at Mont-Blanc.

It is one of the few places in the area that works as well in summer as in winter.

Domaine des Portes du Mont-Blanc ·

A tip that holds true anywhere at altitude: book the day before in high season, and aim for 12:15 rather than 1 pm. That half-hour difference changes everything in terms of waiting time and getting a seat on the terrace.

And a few minutes from Combloux

Megève is ten minutes away by car, Saint-Gervais fifteen, Sallanches ten. So you can enjoy a quiet dinner on the evening you arrive, and book one of Megève’s great restaurants for a special occasion.
